GARDEN CLUB LONDON RETURN TO RHS CHELSEA IN 2022 WITH TONY WOODS & KOTO COLLABORATION FOR HAMPTONS
A Backyard Sanctuary by Hamptons
A Backyard Sanctuary by Hamptons creates an area for backyard residing. A backyard takes us out of our houses, lets us decompress, play and reconnect.
In collaboration with Hamptons and Backyard Membership London, Koto Design have created a carbon impartial backyard cabin. The small, sculptural construction is designed to operate as a spot of seclusion and meditation, an immersive house to attach with the encompassing energy of nature and vegetation.
Beneath the cover of pine and birch bushes the sound of water gently trickles via the backyard. The charred timber exterior (shou-sugi -ban) attracts from Japanese design affect and the traditional Japanese philosophy Wabi Sabi, targeted on accepting the transient nature of life and the sweetness in imperfection. The construction frames immersive views of the backyard.
Rounded glacial boulders and pure stepping stones distinction with the constructing and supply an intentional approach to gradual the journey to the cabin, via the planting and throughout the transferring water. Boundaries of Fagus sylvatica hedging and charred larch panels present a foil to point out off the beautiful bark of the Betula nigra and Pinus sylvetris.
The backyard is wealthy in pollinating vegetation with water for wildlife and densely planted bushes to encourage birds into the backyard. Sweetly scented favourites together with phlox and Syringa repeat via the planting to offer clouds of scent because the customer meanders via the backyard.
